Here goes my first review for Crime Fiction month!
I must admit that I hadn’t read any Jonathan Kellerman before Gone. But after coming across this fun campaign for his latest crime thriller, Deception, I had to find out more. Rather than read Deception and spoil my fun, I read an older novel, Gone, to get to know the protagonist and other main characters.

The latest novel Deception has been brought to life online with a call to fans to help ‘solve’ the murder at the heart of the book.
Delaware is a forensic psychologist who often works with the LAPD to solve the most complex and heinous of crimes in these best-selling psychological crime thrillers.
In DECEPTION, Delaware and Detective Milo Sturgis must enter the cutthroat world of private education to seek the killer of Elise Freeman, a teacher who may not be all she seems. Once again they must delve into the darkest recesses of the human compulsions and seek the truth against fierce opposition, even from within their own ranks.
Campaign posters on the London Underground, based on a traditional ‘wanted’ poster, call for help from the public to assist in solving the murder by directing them to Dr Alex Delaware’s website, either online or via mobile. This is the first time that fans will be able to interact directly with the book’s leading man and this campaign takes this interactivity to a whole new level.

In the meantime, here is a quick review of Gone.
Synopsis: Dylan and Michaela are acting students who are found battered and bruised after escaping from their abductor. But the evidence later proves that the abduction was a hoax. The game turns a lot more serious when Micheala is found murdered.
Homicide detective Milo Sturgis and psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware investigate and are initially baffled when they find more questions than answers and more suspects than perpetrators.
Verdict: Smartly written, fast-paced, this one had my attention all the way to the end. Some of the loose ends could have been tied up faster and there are some leaps of logic. But on the whole, the story hangs together well and the dialogue between Sturgis and Delaware is witty and fun. Definitely worth a read for crime fiction fans.
Not an edge-of-the chair sort of mystery. It kind of takes its time to come to a conclusion. But the main characters are intriguing and that means that I will be going back for more of this series.
